Buying Vehicles on Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to buy your newest vehicle from. From old classics to new vehicles, you can usually find it on Craigs list for cheaper listing prices than on online auctions and car dealerships. There are some things that you should keep in mind before purchasing a car through Craigs list.

1. You should only look for and inquire about vehicles that are in a location that you are willing to travel to. This will not only save you trouble but will also save the seller frustration from having to deal with a non-serious buyer.

2. Pictures. You should be able to look at pictures before contacting the owner. Listings without a picture are probably not worth your time.

3. Detailed information. While everyone is not an expert on automobiles, you should look for important information that every car owner should be aware of. Such examples of information that should be listed would include the total amount of miles put on the car, the model type and year, and a list of any potential (and known) issues with the vehicle. By checking for this information, you will ensure that you will enter into an honest transaction.

4. Finally, Legal documents. If it isn’t listed in the information page, you should make sure that the vehicle includes proper papers, such as the title to the car. You should never buy a car that doesn’t include a title. Just because you contacted the seller through Craigs list does not require you to go through with the transaction if it seems shady.
